Haymarket Center opened the first publically funded Maternal Addiction Center (MAC) in the Midwest in March, 1990, offering long-term residential care to chemically-dependent women at any time during their pregnancies. The goal of the program is to promote drug-free living and to insure drug-free births with enhanced maternal-child attachment, returning mother and child to a non-drug-using environment.
